Workforce Development & Career Training

Workforce Development takes on many forms here at You Saved Me Foundation. We want every person seeking employment, help, opportunities, and resources to allow us and our Community Partners to help assist in the process. We promote a strong focus on Career Training, Entrepreneurship, and Continued Education for anyone experiencing barriers towards self-sufficiency. 

We assist our clients in locating and navigating  Educational Resources, On-The-Job Training, and permanent Employment Opportunities.  We also help register applicants for Vocational Apprenticeships, College Courses, and Continued Educational Courses. 

We understand that there are many hurdles to finding success.  We have created a strong network of Community Partners throughout the County of San Diego and beyond. We provide wrap-around services to ensure a high success rate and to help build a solid foundation. 

We established a Community support system of services for all applicants. We offer Free clothing, pantry food for the week, pet food, baby diapers, hygiene equipment, hot meals, public transportation vouchers for travel, and storage. All services are available and free to our clients once registered.

San Diego Workforce Partnership Paid Mentorships!

Are you 16-24 and interested in a career in the public sector? Then this is the perfect opportunity for you to gain valuable experience and make new connections to further your career path. These opportunities are for low to moderate income individuals who live in the City of San Diego. There are two types of mentorship opportunities available:

Public Service Mentorships 
For participants with education and experience in a relevant professional field (i.e., engineering, law, library science, biology, recreation). These mentees will be paid $17.50 an hour for 410 hours (400 hours mentorship, 10 hours pre-training), with the exact schedule to be determined by the mentor and mentee after matching takes place.  

Work Readiness Mentorships
For participants with unrelated education and experience. These mentees will be paid $15 an hour and serve 205 hours (175 hours mentorship, 30 hours pre-training), with the exact schedule determined by the mentor and mentee after matching takes place.

Entry Level Career Opportunities Now Open!

Emergency Dispatcher I: $39,665.60 - $47,798.40 annually. Application has no closing date.
All Dispatcher I positions, under general supervision, receive incoming telephone calls and evaluate requests for Police services, Fire-Rescue services, Environmental Services and Transportation and Storm Water services. 

Custodian I: $14.01 - $15.33 / hour. Applications close August 16th, 2021.
Custodian I positions sweep and scrub floors; wash windows and walls; polish, empty, and clean waste containers; vacuum and shampoo carpets; clean restrooms; maintain equipment and materials used on the job; set up and take down tables and chairs; and perform other duties as assigned.


Clerical Assistant II: $15.96 - $19.24 / hour. Applications close August 16th, 2021.
Clerical Assistant II positions work in a variety of City of San Diego departments and perform various typing tasks; serve as receptionists; keep records and compile statistics; operate office machines; and perform other duties as assigned. There are requirements for this position, though no previous clerical assistant experience is required.


Golf Operations Assistant: $33,196.80 - $40,019.20 annually. Applications close August 16th, 2021.
Golf Operations Assistant positions answer questions concerning the golf course and procedures, rules and regulations; determine and collect proper green fees from customers and arrange starting order for players; organize golfers into playing groups and make arrangements for timely spacing; patrol the golf course to interpret and enforce course rules; keep records, including those for numbers of players and cash receipts; operate a cash register/computer; close out and balance cash register; determine and issue resident identification cards; and perform other duties as assigned. There are requirements for this position, though no previous golf operations assistant experience is required.


Lifeguard I: $17.32 - $20.80 hourly. Applications close February 7th, 2022.
Bay and Ocean Lifeguard positions guard swimmers at public beaches and bays, perform rescues, administer first aid, warn swimmers of dangerous water conditions, enforce aquatic beach regulations and ordinances, clean and maintain lifeguard equipment, operate rescue boats, drive emergency vehicles such as pickup trucks and 2 and 4-wheel drive vehicles, give information to the public, and maintain records and write reports; and perform other duties as assigned.


Plant Operator Trainee: $42,057.60 - $50,211.20 annually. Applications close August 16th, 2021.
Plant Operator Trainee positions participate in a training program that teaches the operation of either a water treatment plant or wastewater treatment plant; obtain experience, skills, and knowledge necessary to qualify for State of California certification as a Water Plant Operator or Wastewater Plant Operator; carry out plant control processes using both computer and manual controls; operate mechanical equipment such as pumps, valves, filters, screens, and boilers; calibrate and maintain monitoring instrumentation; perform maintenance and repair; keep logs, records, and documentation; perform chemical and biological analyses; drive pick-up trucks and other vehicles; operate forklifts, utility carts, and small tractors; and perform other duties as assigned. Certification needed before employment begins.


Pool Guard I: $14.65 - $16.03 hourly. Application has no closing date.
Pool Guard I positions oversee the safety of pool patrons by monitoring the pool and deck areas to prevent accidents; explain and enforce facility regulations, policies and procedures; rescue swimmers in distress or in danger of drowning; administer first aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) as needed; receive fees from patrons; assist patrons in aquatic class and activity registration; maintain records and prepare reports; and perform other duties as assigned.

Recreation Aide: $14.56 hourly. Application has no closing date.
Recreation Aide positions are assigned to work at various City of San Diego recreation centers, teen centers and after school programs; assist with games, crafts, sports, dance and aquatic activities; supervise locker areas; provide information to the public; register participants in classes; perform cashier duties; distribute equipment and games; make simple repairs to equipment and facilities; perform general maintenance of facilities and grounds; assist with/participate in special events; and perform other duties as assigned.

SEASONAL WORK 

SeaWorld - Seasonal Jobs Available!

SeaWorld San Diego is looking for hundreds of enthusiastic performers who will add horror and thrills to the separately ticketed night event. The park is hosting one-hour Scare Squad auditions every Thursday between 5 – 8 p.m. and every Saturday between 12 – 5 p.m. now through September. During the audition, applicants will be asked to participate in improvisational and physicality exercises to demonstrate various elements of scare tactics and showcase their best skills to startle, scare, and make guests scream in terror. Positions start at $15.00 an hour. 

The selected creepy characters must be passionate about Halloween and love to frighten in a fun way. The Scare Squad will spread fear and fun and join our Fear Family by being transformed into characters by world class makeup artists and the park’s costume design team. Interested applicants can secure their audition spot by applying online on the SeaWorld website.

Applicants are asked to wear comfortable clothing and apply online for the position prior to attending an audition. Experience is not required, just a desire to have fun and give a good scare. New hires will enjoy a fun, fast-paced environment, great teammates, and free park admission and parking. Additional perks include discounts on park tickets for friends and family, food, merchandise, and in-park experiences.
