Francine Michele Hart (1953-2016)
American Activist, Educator & Small Business Owner
History
The You Saved Me Foundation was founded in 2019, in the memory of American Activist, Entrepreneur, and Teacher Assistant, Francine Michele Hart. Who fought tirelessly equal access to opportunities and resources for many in her community during her lifetime. She was a staunch advocate on behalf of social justice reform, education, and upward mobility. Her son Marcus Belgrove, founded the You Saved Me Foundation to keep the legacy and spirit of his mother’s ideals alive. Her selfless cause of maintaining racial solidarity among all, helping to eradicate poverty, and creating business and educational opportunities for those most disadvantaged in the community. Francine Hart, was an extraordinary student, graduating high school at the age of 15 and attending college on a full scholarship to Godard University where she studied Political Science. Her aspirations set her on course to be a Federal Judge but life would have it differently. She would meet her husband and become a mother. Her interest in politics did not end in the classroom. Yet was re-ignited on the streets of Philadelphia and Brooklyn where she lived. Those experiences would shape her life. Not soon after college, she would join the Black Panther Party. This decision would bring her much political and social scrutiny, but she believed in her cause despite the adversity surrounding her choice to liberate minds. Her seasoned New England education was a benefit to all of those she encountered. Her goal was to inform, educate, and mobilize her community into a successful progression of self-sufficiency. Today we carry on her legacy of compassion, learning, and love for generations to come.
Founder & President
The You Saved Me Foundation was founded by Marcus Belgrove, a single father, artist, and entrepreneur, born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Foundation is dedicated to the legacy and memory of his late mother Francine Hart. Francine Hart was an American Activist, Educator, Entrepreneur, Mother, and Community Advocate. This idea to honor his mother's legacy would soon become a small nonprofit organization. Picking up where his mother left off in empowering the most vulnerable of society.
We find many of the neighbors we encounter have been left out by government safety nets and society continues to ignore and fail those living unsheltered on the streets or in the wooded area. That is why we reinstate compassion, dignity, and respect when we serve with our hearts. The You Saved Me Foundation was founded in 2019, to help as many people as possible to create an action plan to escape poverty. Empowering them with an Action Plan for success and while helping to identify opportunities and resources along the journey towards stability and upward mobility. We plan to help organize local social services in the long run to cut the red tape, to help streamline services more adequately and efficiently. We also lift a few burdens with our Programs. Each is free for those in need. We supply one month of free dog food to any hungry dog while homeless or in crisis. We supply a free Emergency survival backpack complete with hygiene essentials, clothing, emergency, and survival items for those living unsheltered on the street or in wooded areas. You can read more about Marcus and his staff at You Saved Me Foundation here.
